A cook and a mechanical engineer?
Members from various nationalities and backgrounds コックにミシュラン?国籍も経歴もさまざまなメンバー

Many staff at SEAOS have worked in various business fields before joining us. How about both of you?

David:That's right. After working in IT in Colombia, I studied hospitality management in the UK. I then worked as a chef in Spanish and Mediterranean restaurants. After I came to Japan, I worked as an English teacher and a maitre-d.

Gildas:After an internship for IHI in Japan, I worked for couple of years for Michelin Research Asia, as a UNIX admin and a real-tire developer to evaluate tire quality. And then I worked as a dealer in a securities company before entering SEAOS.

Regardless of language barrier?言葉の壁は関係ない?

Gildas-san can speak Japanese, but David-san couldn't speak at all when you join us. Did you have any trouble working?

Gildas:It's alright because programming language can be regarded as a language as such. One can truly“talk”programming languages.

David:I was able to communicate with colleagues using source code. Japanese is not necessary for coding.“DEMO NIPONGO ZEN-ZEN DECK NIGHT YOU KNOW WA E SUGY DEATH.”

Well, that doesn't sound like Japanese…by the way, what language do you two use mostly when programming?

Gildas:I'm developing back-office systems of E-commerce sites, so I mainly use PHP. I have hardly used it before, but it wasn't that difficult to learn because I've experienced other languages(C, C++, Shells, Fortran, VB, HP Vee) . Programming is based on logic. It's more important to brush up a skill in programming logically than to study a lot of programming languages.

David:I use Java, Objective-C, PHP, and JavaScript. I' m in charge of developing the e-book (*e-book application of “Triathlon LUMINA”, a monthly magazine published by SEAOS), so it was a little confusing to learn Objective-C for iOS and Java for Android at the same time. However, the basic logic is common with each language, so I developed one properly first, and then developed the other one.

That's right. You can understand what's right or wrong just by looking at a computer display and the source code, even if you don't understand what was said. So I suppose there aren't any problem. Both of you have high quality programming skills, so that's very helpful to me.

If you are motivated, it doesn't matter whether
you can speak Japanese or not やる気があれば、日本語ができなくても活躍できる

David:I'm not so good at speaking Japanese even now, but there's no problem at work as long as sharing source code with other members. I really appreciate that many of my colleagues follow me with learning English. And I'm also grateful that SEAOS always have opportunities for those who are motivated.

Edwin:We also have to thank Yonesato-san and Yamashita-san(*company director) for providing detailed explanations to us.

Gildas:And free re-fills of apples (*).

You're eating it again! *Coincidentally a box of apples is in office on the interview day. It's not always like that.

We are currently seeking competent software engineers regardless of nationality and educational background.
Non-good speaker of Japanese are welcomed. シーオスでは、国籍・経験を問わず、優秀なソフトウェアエンジニアを募集しています。 日本語が苦手でもOKです。
